At Richardson Hartley Law we regularly carry out research to help uncover trends in UK fraud.
We examined our own data and found that two-thirds of our fraud victims had suffered with some sort of vulnerabilty.
This can vary from being recently widowed or divorced to elderly or having English as a second language..
Many of those interviewed said that being duped had left them with severe depression and some had said that they contemplated suicide as a result of falling victim to fraud. The three most common emotions described by the victims were ‘shame’, ‘anger’, and ‘upset’.
The Sunday Mirror ran the story as an exclusive.
